A VETERINARY JOURNEY LIKE NO OTHER

Becoming a vet has always been my dream. After 4 years as an assistant in mixed medicine (rural and small pets), my choice fell on domestic carnivores. I had the opportunity to work in an alternative medicine practice in Bern, and then for more than 10 years in a general practice on the Vaud Riviera. In 2017, I started a freelance practice alongside my work as a general practitioner specialising in nutrition and supporting dietary changes.

I'm now very lucky to be able to live my profession as a passion on a daily basis. As soon as I finished my studies, I took a series of further training courses in both conventional and alternative medicine. As I'm naturally curious and like to think outside the box, it's a philosophy that I've also applied as a veterinary surgeon. This led me to take an interest in Chinese medicine, veterinary care for chickens, different physiotherapy techniques for dogs and horses, as well as the fascinating fields of phytotherapy and aromatherapy.

My training in micronutrition, a field that is just emerging in human medicine, gives me the opportunity to apply innovative knowledge to our cat and dog friends! Thanks to all this experience, I can offer a complementary approach to traditional veterinary medicine.

MY SPECIALTY

MY PRACTICE IN A FEW WORDS ?

The global approach means solving problems at source. Animals need a healthy environment to stay healthy, resist adversity and live their lives in the best possible conditions. The ‘terrain’ in this case is represented by the animal's body, which reflects the ingredients assimilated thanks to a healthy intestinal surface. If the terrain is deficient or clogged - or both - various problems can arise. By establishing a link between the various pathologies, it is possible to identify the root of the problem and implement the changes needed to heal it.

Integrative medicine comes into play when choosing therapies. Priority is given to natural treatments and solutions that restore fundamental balance, rather than treating symptoms alone. The use of allopathic medicines (antibiotics, cortisone, anti-parasitics, painkillers, etc.) is obviously not ruled out, but will only be used if necessary to avoid weakening the body, and its microbiota in particular.

The notion of coordinating care will also be emphasised. In today's hyper-specialised medical world, it has become particularly important to be able to take a holistic approach and look at problems as a whole.

HOW DO MY CONSULTATIONS WORK ?

My consultations take place at home, by teleconsultation or at O-Poil, in a calm environment where the animal feels reassured. The animal receives me calmly and sees my presence as a friendly visit. Under these conditions, the meeting is punctuated by moments of complicity between the owner, the animal and myself. This also allows me to see the interactions between the other members of the household.

During these integrative medicine consultations, I look at the animal as a whole. First of all, I study the problems identified by the owner. This enables me to create as complete a picture of the animal as possible, which helps me to identify its needs and expectations. I ask a series of questions to identify the animal's pathology and its seriousness. I then take the time to explain the illness in its entirety and answer the owner's questions as precisely as possible.

Finally, with the owner's agreement, I put in place a suitable therapeutic approach, setting achievable goals together: whether it's a change in diet or behaviour, phytotherapeutic support and/or conventional allopathic therapy.

AT-HOME EUTHANASIA

I offer at-home euthanasia or at O-Poil, a neutral place, neither at home nor a veterinary clinic.

Euthanasia is a difficult decision for any pet owner, but in some cases, at-home euthanasia or in a neutral place can offer benefits for both the animal and the owner. Here are some advantages:

1

COMFORT OF THE ANIMAL

In the comfort and familiarity of its environment, the animal can feel more at ease and less stressed during its final moments.

2

MOINS DE STRESS LESS STRESS FOR THE OWNER

L'euthanasie à domicile peut éviter au propriétaire de devoir transporter son animal malade ou souffrant chez le vétérinaire, ce qui peut être stressant.

3

INTIMACY AND QUALITY TIME

At-home euthanasia allows the owner to spend intimate moments with the animal during its final moments, providing peace and comfort for both.

4

FEWER DISTRACTIONS

At-home or O-Poil euthanasia offers a calm, private environment with fewer distractions than a veterinary clinic, allowing the owner to focus on the animal and provide attention and love.

5

TAKE YOUR TIME

We offer unlimited time during your final moments together. Take the time you need for reflection, prayer, or lighting a candle.

6

FACILITATING GRIEF

Losing a pet is a difficult experience. At-home or O-Poil euthanasia helps owners feel more comfortable and manage grief more easily in their own environment or a neutral space.
